We know that the final year of secondary school and the GCSE exam period can be a stressful time for students and their families. With this in mind, we launched our ‘Going for Gold’ initiative at an evening for Y10 students and their parents on 14 May.
Our aim is to work with families to make this time both rewarding and successful for our students. In the ‘Going for Gold’ booklet, which was handed out at the evening, students and parents can access key information about this critical year – which begins at this point of Year 10. The booklet also details policies and the practicalities of academy life; information about making revision productive; and key information for revision for each GCSE subject.

The Y10 exams run from 18-27 June and students should be spending 2 hours per subject, per week, on their revision, using the revision timetable to help to organise their time and the subject pages in the booklet as a checklist for the topics to be covered.
Exam results can be collected in a drop-in session for students and their parent/carer on Tuesday 17 and Wednesday 18 July, between 2.30-5pm. Members of the Senior Leadership Team will be there to discuss the implications of the results.
Working together, we can ensure that our students achieve excellence. We wish you and your child great success and look forward to celebrating their success, not just on results day in August 2019, but throughout the year, as they achieve the milestones on the way to achievement in the final exams.
